MACTAN ISLAND HOPPING
Have you already planned where to go on your summer weekends?
Do you have any place in mind to spend your summer days?
Hmmnn... you might be interested in hopping different Islands around Mactan, Cebu. We just had ours last weekend. That was a blast! Let me share with you our whole day escapade in Lapu-lapu City Cebu.
First things first, you need to consider the weather condition and the date. It is a must that you do a little research on the weather forecast before the date you intend to do such activity. Otherwise, it would ruin your day and peers too! However, if your pals are up for a rain or shine escapade then go as long as the coastguard permits the pump boats to sail.
Once the date is already set, you can look for a Travel and Tour agency that offers a great package. We chose the affordable Everyday Summer - Island Hopping and Tours .
We picked the smaller boat for PHP 2700 since we were only a group of 10 pax. We bought our own food and rented a van for the pick up and drop off transfer. We divided the group into three and each group brought a menu worth PHP 500 of food. On the other hand, my friend did contact an online van rental which costs PHP 1800 for the pick up and drop off transfer. If you're interested to rent a van, then you can message me for his contact number. In total, we shelled out around PHP 650 / pax inclusive of boat, van transfer and food.
Everything was all set and the only issue was the weather, arrgghhh! It was a gloomy, cold and rainy Saturday! But this didn't stop us from going there. Our group met at around 9 AM in IT Park and headed to Cordova. ( I don't recommend this time for meet up since Lapu-lapu is jumpacked with vehicles by this hour). The earlier the better!
When we arrived in Parola port, the sky began to light up a bit. We decided to go to Hilutungan island first where we enjoyed snorkeling and dove in the clear water. Different kinds of fishes to see and the water was very inviting. You MUST not forget to bring your swimwear, goggles etc. We stayed there more than an hour of snorkeling, taking pictures, diving etc. The PHP 100 entrance is worth it!
The second island we visited is Coagahan which is 20 minutes away from Hilutungan Island. It was low tide by the time we arrived in the place. There was no entrance fee since we only stayed in the white sand bar. If you want to enter the resort then just be ready for PHP200 fee.
The last island we chose was the Nalusuan. It's too pricey for PHP250 to visit the resort. Nevermind, we just stayed in the middle of the ocean trying to find NEMO and DORA. Lol! It was around 2 PM and the waves are getting crazier. Still, we decided to float and play in the water for the last time. The water near Nalusuan has lots of planktons so it's not desirable to sink in.
Unlike Hilutungan, school of fishes gets close when you drop breadcrumbs in the water. To cut it short, our group headed home around 330PM and arrived in the port after an hour of nausea and headache due to the waves altitude at its peak. Good thing we brought some medicines with us! The van just came on time so we left the port around 5PM. As expected, roads were full of vehicles again and we reached our final destination early evening.
