Osmena Peak 2018- The final round

I didn't know how to start this post, honestly. It made me smile and squint remembering the moments our Madam group of co. experienced during the trekk. This is not a disrepute of the place but it is solely based on our experience when we went there on January 13-14 of the current year.

It's my third time visiting the peak. I was hoping to get great photos of the sunset, mountain ranges, get a good laugh with my buddies. But what we imagined was totally the opposite.

We reached Dalaguete market around 130 in the afternoon and we took our lunch. We decided to move up at 230pm riding habal2 which took about half an hour. When we passed Mantalungon market, the air began to get cold and the fog got thicker. Oh Mr. Sunshine was nowhere to be found. Please see video below:

Given the weather was so uncooperative, what happened next was disappointing because of miscommunication. I was personally unhappy with the habal2 fare. We paid 100 php per head plus the 10 pesos helmet. Wow! If they are concerned about the safety of the tourists, helmet should already be required and included in the fare. I quarreled with one of the habal2 drivers about not getting the right info. Nevertheless, we ended up paying the said amount. We had no choice. Sigh! In addition, you have to pay 30p per pax for entrance and 50p for each tent space.  It's out of the frying pan and into the fire! Whew!

Anyhow, we reached the foot of the mountain past 3pm then registered our names. The hike took almost 30 minutes due the limestones being slippery. Good thing we had our trekking sandals worn.

Despite the can of worms, the group managed to have fun. After setting up our respective tents, we prepared dinner. The wind started to get icy and sharp.  Darkness and fog came over the peak just in time for dinner.

The perfect storm I thought was a figment became a reality. It was raining cats and dogs during midnight. Who could get such sleep if your tent is soaking wet. Who could not stay awake when your tent is almost blown away by the terrible wind.  I told myself, its always darkest before the dawn. Just to stay being positive. Char!

To make the story short, we left the vicinity much earlier than we expected. A lot of campers did the same thing too. Most of us felt a bit under the weather. We decided to head back home after our breakfast. Believe it or not,  we took the bus going to cebu with wet clothes on and dead tired for almost 3 hours. I came to a conclusion that Opeak has reached my final round. Period.

Inspite of the whole nine yards, the group still had fun and enjoyed each other's company.  After all, that's what really matters the most! Aja!

Till our next adventure madams!
Credits to the photos, models and dancers! Gem and jade! Hahaha.
